A Real Batleth ceased by police

by Sci-Fi Man on May 29, 2006

Batleth.jpgIn the UK, the Sun newspaper is reporting on a Batleth, aka the Klingon weapon of choice, has been ceased by police.

The terrifying Batleth weapon is identical to one wielded by Klingon aliens in the Star Trek sci-fi films.

Officers seized the three-handled sword — which has huge pointed blades at either end — at a home in Gloucester.

It was shown yesterday at the start of a five-week national knife amnesty. Cops hope 30,000 blades will be handed in, with owners free from prosecution.

I had no idea that mere possession of a bladed edge constituted a crime in the UK, but I suppose there will be many changes in store for subjects of the British Crown once Sharia Law is more widely adopted.

It just isn’t fair that we can’t own a Batleth to display in our own homes. Every country in the world is becoming less and less free and it’s time that the people stood up to the governments and said “Enough is Enough”. What’s the use of living in a “Safe” society, if we aren’t free to do what we like, especially if it doesn’t hurt anyone. I live in Australia and it is just ridiculous at how many things are considered illegal. I can’t own an Airsoft Replica, even if I had a firearms license, I wouldn’t be allowed. I’m afraid that one day I am going to wake up and the world will be a horrid place, where we have no freedoms at all. It isn’t worth it just to have the illusion of a safe society. I am no safer from criminals now than from the time where I could own an Air Rifle without a license. If a criminal wants a gun or a sword or any weapon, he won’t randomly pick a house; he’ll get it from a illegal arms dealer and use it on who ever he wishes. Banning things just means you take away the rights of the average individual who wouldn’t hurt anyone and gives the power back to the criminal. Do you think burglars would think twice if they knew that every house they hit could have an armed citizen waiting for them?

wasn’t this in the Daily Mail, who predictably called it ”dangerous” and ”lethal”. Would of been better for the owner to have a bit of sense and kept it on his wall. Yes its ”dangerous” in the wrong hands, but some common sense must prevail, i’ve been after a proper batleth for years now, but the police seem to be worried that i’m going to be running down the high street in full klingon garb hacking at people and screaming ”Glory To The Empire”
