Dodgy sci-fi thriller, Logan’s Run, could be making a comeback…eventually.
The first film (which wasn’t all that good) saw Michael York as Logan, an operative in a dystopian future society.Â
Â
The remake of Logan’s Run has been in development hell for the last few years but it is hoped to be finished in time for a 2007 release date in the US. It was going to be made by Superman Returns Director, Bryan Singer, but he dropped out in favour of a Superman sequel. Â
Â
In the first film, every member of society had to be killed when the reached a specific age (21 in the book, 30 in the first film) so that the population and the consumption of resources could be managed and maintained in equilibrium. Logan’s job was to catch runners who were members of society who did not wish to go for renewal (state suicide).Â
Â
On Logan’s last day, he tries to escape himself and find “sanctuary†a place where runners can find safety. This time the age of the Runners will be 21 as it was in the book.
