Sci Fi writer Charles L Fontenay Is Dead

The Nashville Tennessean has reported that legendary Sci Fi writer, Charles L. Fontenay died in a Memphis hospital on February 3rd at the age of 89.

Fontenay followed his childhood ambition to be a writer and wrote numerous books of which more than a dozen are science fiction titles such as Rebels of the Red Planet and Modal. He also wrote a biography about the Tennessee politician, Estes Kefauver.

Fontenay also spent more than four decades with The Tennessean on the rewrite desk and as an editor.

Other notable accomplishments include a third-degree black belt in tae kwon do.

Fontenay is survived by his son, Blake Fontenay, his daughter, Gretchen Fontenay, and two granddaughters.
