NASA and Virgin Galactic team up
NASA has teamed up with Virgin Galactic to develop space tourism. The agreement which will last for two years will feature NASA astronauts taking Virgin Galactic’s SpaceShipTwo on test flights 62 miles above the earth next year.
There are a number of possibilities for NASA and Virgin Galactic to collaborate on such as the development of hybrid rocket motors, space suits and even creating hypersonic vehicles capable of traveling more than 5 times the speed of sound. These projects could find themselves into SpaceShipThree.
SpaceShipTwo should be ready for commercial use in 2009.
