The Invention of Hugo Cabret heading to the big screen
Martin Scorsese could be directing to the best-selling Brian Selznick children’s fantasy novel The Invention of Hugo Cabret. The book’s story centres around a young orphan who lives in the walls of a Paris train station in 1930 and a mystery involving the boy, his late father and a robot.
Variety reported that Warner Brothers and Graham King’s Initial Entertainment Group have acquired the screen rights to the book as a potential directing vehicle for Martin Scorsese.
The director, who’s recent credits include The Aviator and The Departed, recently signed a lucrative first-look deal with Paramount. Under the terms of the pact, Par has the right to own half of any project Scorsese directs or produces elsewhere.
