The price is right for The Dark Knight. Over America’s Labor Day weekend holiday, the latest Batman movie, The Dark Knight became the 2nd movie in Hollywood history to pass the $500 million dollar mark. According to Warner Bros. studios, The Dark Knight has made over $502.4 million from domestic American ticket sales.

The Dark Knight is a huge hit in America, but not everyone loves Bruce Wayne’s alter ego. The Japanese obviously don’t like Batman at all. The Dark Knight bombed in Japan and made only a little over $8 million.

So what’s the other movie to break the $500 million mark in American ticket sales? James Cameron’s 1997 film Titanic, which made $600.8 million and still remains at #1.

In related news, sales of The Dark Knight comic book by Frank Miller (Sin City, 300) have also skyrocketed. The Dark Knight is currently ranked #63 out of all book sales on Amazon.com.

Not bad for a comic book mini series that was released in 1986.

A proposed Justice League of America movie may be entirely computer generated if a rumor reported by IESB.net proves true. The JLA movie would be based on the DC comic series which sees a coalition of super heroes such as superman and batman brought together to defend earth.

An anonymous source told the site that there are three visual-effects companies in the running for the job; Rhythm & Hues, Imageworks and possibly Weta.

If this rumor is in fact true then it could add a couple of years to the films production as the CG takes time to render.

Matthew Vaughn, who recently helmed the Stardust movie, is to direct Thor for Marvel Studios. Thor is yet another comic book creation that’s been given the OK for the big screen treatment. It revolves around a blond hammer-wielding Norse god named Thor who is sent by his father, Odin, to protect mankind.

The adaptation has been written by Mark Protosevich and Marvel is hoping for a production start this winter.

Eric Roberts who has been playing a recurring role on NBC’s Heroes, is to join the cast of latest batman movie, The Dark Knight.

In the film which is to be directed by Christopher Nolan, Roberts will play the part of a notorious Mafia kingpin.

Edward Norton as the Hulk? How on earth did the casting director pull that one off? I think that that piece of genius casting will make the newest Hulk movie worth watching.

The first film received mixed reviews and starred Eric Bana as Bruce Banner the scientist who finds himself turning into the Hulk whenever he gets angry. The sequel, The Incredible Hulk has not only a new leading man but a new director, Louis Leterrier.

The new movie begins with Banner on the run, trying to avoid capture long enough to cure the condition that turns him into a misunderstood green menace.

The script for The Incredible Hulk was written by Zak Penn, who had a hand in crafting two X-Men films, Fantastic Four and Elektra for Marvel.

The Incredible Hulk will shoot this summer in Toronto and is set to open on for June 13, 2008.

Last week, Sony Pictures Television made several TV shows available in Apple’s iTunes Store (US) including Season 1 from Spiderman, the animated series.

The animated series features Neil Patrick Harris (Starship Troopers, Doogie Howser), Ian Ziering (Beverly Hills 90210) and singer-songwriter Lisa Loeb.

Some of the other shows Sony added to iTunes include: ‘Til Death, Rules of Engagement, Starsky & Hutch, Charlie’s Angels, and NewsRadio.

Warner Bros. is planning a live-action feature film version of the Justice League of America. JLA is a society of DC comic book’s most popular heroes who come together to thwart evil. The League has included Superman, Batman, Wonder Woman, Flash and the Green Lantern.

The screenplay will be written by Kiernan and Michele Mulroney who are currently writing the Mr. & Mrs. Smith TV pilot.

Warner Bros. had been developing a Batman vs. Superman film before deciding to do the Batman Begins and Superman Returns movies instead. The studio now thinks that it can make a lot of money from developing their own superhero team franchise.

Frank Miller, who wrote and co-directed Sin City and executive-produced 300 both films based on his graphic novels, is now ready to start shooting the sequel to Sin City according to SCI FI Wire. He hopes to start shooting the film in late spring in Texas.

The sequel will be based on A Dame to Kill for, the second Sin City story and a prequel to The Hard Goodbye, which was the basis of one of the first film’s storylines. Sin City 2 will also flesh out some of the back stories of the first film’s characters such as ‘The Old Town Girls’ and Nancy Callahan played by Jessica Alba.

Miller will be once again sharing directing duties with Robert Rodriguez. They are still casting and if the first Sin City is anything to go from then you can expect a whole host of Hollywood stars.

Aaron Eckhart who played main bad guy in Paycheck, is in final negotiations to play Harvey Dent/Two Face in The Dark Knight, Warner Brothers Pictures’ sequel to Batman Begins, according to The Hollywood Reporter.

In Batman lore, Dent is the district attorney of Gotham City and an ally of Batman. After half his face is disfigured by acid, Dent becomes the insane crime boss known as Two Face. He chooses to do good or evil by flipping a coin.

Christopher Nolan will be returning to the director’s chair as well as Christian Bale as Batman and many of the actors from the first film such as Morgan Freeman and Michael Cain.

Heath Ledger joined the cast last summer, signing up to play the sardonic and murderous villain the Joker probably the best known Batman villain.

Eckhart gained notice recently for his performance in Thank You for Smoking in which he was nominated for a Golden Globe for best actor.

The Iron Man film has nabbed another big name for its cast of Oscar winners and nominees.

This time Jeff Bridges joins the cast. He’ll be acting alongside Robert Downey Jr who plays the pivotal role of Tony Stark aka Iron Man as well as Oscar winner Gwyneth Paltrow as Stark’s secretary and Terrence Howard as a pilot and friend of stark. Jeff Bridges will play a character who is a close friend and business associate of Stark.

The film is based on the Iron Man comic books and explores how Tony Stark creates the iron suit that helps him fight his villainous foes. In the movie he will face the villain, The Mandarin.

Filming on Iron Man is scheduled to begin in March in Los Angeles with a planned release date of May 2, 2008. The movie will be directed by Jon Favreau.
